How to Join
We were never meant to journey alone. Connecting with others and building community is a big part of a healthy Christian walk. God's Word says, "As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend." — Proverbs 27:17. You can find strength, support and encouragement through being a member of EUM Church.
We ask that everyone who wishes to join EUM church attend a membership class called Beyond Believing. This 6 week class covers the 6 spiritual practices (link goes to Wanting to Grow) that we encourage all people to use in order to learn to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love others as yourself. The class also covers what it means to be a member of EUM church and talks about our mission, vision, and purpose. At the end of the class you will have the opportunity to join the church and be received into membership at your regularly worship service.
Don't let the busyness of life get in the way of building lasting relationships with other believers who care about who you are and where you are going in your walk with God.
Membership
Membership in The United Methodist Church really begins with the Sacrament of Baptism. Baptism symbolizes the initiative God takes in bestowing upon us grace and mercy. It celebrates our complete dependence upon God. Through the sacrament we accept God's gift of grace and yield our lives to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Induction into membership at EUM Church is offered twice a year in the spring and winter quarters after completing Beyond Believing Membership class. During the induction ceremony, the pastor will ask those who wish to join two very simple questions. First, “Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?” Second, “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness? If you can answer yes to both questions, you're a member.
A member in any Christian denomination who has been baptized and who desires to unite with The United Methodist Church may also be received as a baptized member after completing Beyond Believing Membership class and by a proper certificate of transfer from that person's former church
